ZADAR, Hotel Hyatt, June 6, 2026 – An official two-day tour of the Diplomatic Corps in the Republic of Croatia brought together more than 20 foreign ambassadors and diplomats in Zadar County. The event was organized by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia (MVEP), and hosted by the City of Zadar and Zadar County.
The central event of the visit focused on the legacy of the Croatian basketball and diplomatic icon through a panel discussion titled "Sports Diplomacy – Krešimir Ćosić."The event commenced with welcoming remarks from distinguished introductory speakers. Addressing the audience were the Prefect of Zadar County Josip Bilaver, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman, the State Secretary for Sport Josip Pavić, and the Mayor of Zadar Šime Erlić. In their speeches, they emphasized Zadar's significance as a historical and sports hub, the role of sports diplomacy in boosting Croatia's international standing, and the lasting importance of preserving Ćosić's sports and human legacy.
The introductory addresses were followed by the main panel discussion on Ćosić's immense contribution to the international recognition of Croatia. The panel featured Stojko Vranković, Mate Granić, and Ana Ćosić Pajurin, and was moderated by Vanda Babić Galić. The event also served as the platform to present Ćosić's autobiographical book, "The Smile."Our association is proud to have provided logistical and organizational support for this prominent event. To ensure the foreign diplomats return with a lasting memory of this gathering, we prepared and presented them with special gifts symbolizing our local tradition and dedication.
