"All the awards and praises came in handy to finish my College career. Despite all professional offers I answered the same way – I said no. I was drafted for the NBA by the Los Angeles Lakers. I just couldn’t accept becoming a professional player in which case money would control my life and being. I didn’t want to subside just to basketball and only be a basketball player. I was aware that life had wider, deeper and higher dimensions than the game. I knew that true magic was in real, not bought, competition. So, at an early age, I decided that money, fame and vanity can’t mean anything. I will play, live and in that I will succeed."

About us

The association’s mission is to preserve the name and historical
importance of the basketball player Kresimir Cosic.
During the past years, we have organized many humanitarian
events, including dinner benefits to help people with difficulties,
exhibitions etc.

Currently we are working on publishing Kresimir’s autobiography
which is a crucial historical note. Part of the profit will also be
Krešimir Cosic started writing his autobiography in 1982, in the
Palace Hotel in Zagreb while playing for Cibona. What was initially
conceived as a history of Yugoslavian basketball, turned into much
much more. Through Kreso’s unique looking glass you fall
hopelessly in love with basketball and all the good old qualities
sports have to offer. He talks about team work, sports psychology,
philosophy, faith and friendship.

The big message that he is trying to communicate is that there is so
much more to life than money and statistics. This being said from
the man who turned down the NBA, 15 years before other
Europeans got a chance to play professional basketball and was the
first foreigner All-American.
